heading north: Los Barriles to San Ignacio

When the palm tree at our site blooms, it has the most wonderful perfume. You can smell it long before the flowers burst forth from their pods. The bees love the little white waxy flowers, too. We just need to take care around this plant because the thorns on the palm fronds are sharp as razors and probably stong enough to pierce armour. The arrival of the blooms and the bees are our signal to get organized for the trip home.

For a solid week, we de-constructed our shade shelter, packed up, cleaned up and put the toys away. We prepared our meals for the road and tucked some catered samosas with chili sauce in the freezer (along with lots of baking from the El Triunfo cafe).

When all the goodbyes were done next morning,  we jumped in the truck on a relatively cool and cloudy day and got going on Mex 1 to Puerto Escondido.
