a typical day
We have not had much wind this week, but life is good in Baja. We start each day with a walk on the beach followed by breakfast, then coffee. The orioles & hummingbirds are regular visitors to our feeders. After morning chores if we are not at our volunteer jobs in Vela, we might cycle up the hill for supplies or have another coffee.
Between Chapito's Supermercado, the organic vegetable vendor and the sellers who come through the campground, we have everything we need and more. We found warm cinnamon buns at the bakery today and the staff at Chapito's brought my attention to the fresh turkey available. "Lo siento, soy vegetariana."
We are getting ready for the Vela staff & volunteer Christmas Potluck. I am making stuffed baked potatoes with onion & gouda and Michael is making a broccoli-lentil salad with dried cranberries, feta and nuts. We'll also have a gift exchange game and found a huge selection of Christmas wrap in Chapitos' papeleria.
The lunar eclipse was a big event last night with people gathering along the beach to watch. Many young families have arrived for Christmas, so it is getting very active. It looks like no wind for a few more days, so we are going to fine tune our stand-up paddling (SUP) skills this week.
