the quad squad

yes - that's us in the helmets

Quads of all kinds are a form of basic transportation here. Well, I can hardly believe we actually joined the quad nation, but we rented one as bright yellow as Big Bird and joined all our friends from the 'Hat to go zooming down the beach  (forgive me baby turtles, I'll never do it again) and way up an arroyo to visit two beautiful water falls.

The arroyo is an amazing place, lined with hoodoo rock formations, giant boulders and many varities of trees, plants and grasses and they are great pathways to go exploring from. The racket from a quad is unreal, but it was a good way to get to some beautiful places.

The first waterfall was a well hidden little oasis. The water spilled down a tall, slim rocky ravine and into a small pool with a sandy beach. There are singing birds and palms and pampas grass above the pool and schools of tiny fish in the pool.

the colours of this picture are weird - perhaps I need a quad-worthy camera

down the arroyo to the next waterfall
this trickle is due to a recent brief rain in several seasons of drought...imagine how much water could roar through here due to a hurricane.

...a spot of rock climbing and then on the road home again.
